Have you ever wondered how a web hosting company can offer you unlimited web hosting space and bandwidth for under $9.00 a month? The truth is, they can offer it, but they can't truely deliver it. The devil is in the details.
Servers, hard drives, and internet bandwidth cost all of the hosting companies money. There is also the cost of the maintenance to keep the servers up and running. When a company sells you an unlimited package, they are betting on you only using a small fraction of what they offer you. Read your TOS (Terms of Service). In most cases, you will find out that if you use more storage, bandwidth, or CPU clock cycle, you run the risk of being shut off or forced to a much higher priced product. Who determines if you are using more than your fair share? The hosting company of course.
So why is this? In order for a hosting company to make a profit on a web server at a price of $9.00 or less, they have to put lots of web sites on that server in order to make any money. Lets say you bought an unlimited plan and you wanted to put up every photo you have ever taken on a digital camera with maximum resolution, most likely, you would use up 5-10 gigs of storage space (or much more assuming you are like some of my relatives). Now lets assume that the hosting company is using 100 gig hard drive, they can only put about 10 customers on this server, therefore they would take a loss ever month on that server.
The truth is that unlimited is a marketing ploy and if you were to use what you think you were sold, you would likely be shut off or moved to a plan that would run you $50 or more a month or told you need your own dedicated server, running anywhere from $100.00 - $450.00 per month.
Advanced Digital Media and
aDigitalHost feel that this is a deceptive practice and therefore we refuse to compete with the "Mass Hosting Companies". What we do provide is servers that are not over sold at fair prices. If we put 500-1000 web sites on a server, the likely hood of it operating at a fast and reliable pace becomes diminished. It is our belief and practice to sell space and bandwidth in packages that are more realistic to what the average web site actually uses in storage space and Bandwidth. This is a reason that companies like
Jarden Applied Materials (Formerly Shakespeare Company) chose us to host their sites.
Does this mean that the over sellers are bad people or companies, no. In most cases you will not even come close to using your limits and they bank on this. But are they over selling their services? You do the math.
Our mission at aDigitalHost is to provide reliable hosting solutions at affordable rates without promising you something then taking what we promised you away in the fine print.
So if you are looking for reliable hosting at a fair rate give us a try!
